Level 3 Award in Felling and Processing Trees over 380mm

This 4 day field based training course is is for people who are required to operate chainsaws to fell trees over 380mm diameter and who have achieved the pre-requisite chainsaw qualifications in this series. The course provides the knowledge and skills required for learners to be assessed for the regulated qualification: Level 3 Award in Felling and Processing Trees over 380mm.

Upon the completion of this course, the candidate will:

  • Be able to promote Health & Safety and Industry Good Practice
  • Assess trees to be felled for hazards and risks
  • Be able to fell and process trees over 380mm
  • Be able to remove branches from felled trees using a chainsaw
  • Be able to take down hung up trees

Equipment needed:

Chainsaw for ground use, fuel/oil, maintenance tools.

Personal Protective Equipment required:  Chainsaw trousers Class 1 type A or C, chainsaw boots, chainsaw helmet with ear and eye protection, chainsaw gloves, this workshop gloves.

All equipment is available to hire at an additional cost including PPE.  Please enquire for details.

Course requirements:

Minimum level of fitness is required.  Candidates must have achieved Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-Cutting and Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Felling Small Trees up to 380mm

Four days including integrated assessment
